Information we collect
We collect only personal information that is reasonably necessary for our salon services and related business activities. The information we collect depends on how you deal with us.
- Identity and contact details, such as your name, phone number and email address.
- Appointment, service, salon location, voucher, payment, refund and cancellation information.
- Consultation and treatment-safety details that are relevant to a requested service, such as allergies, sensitivities, medications, pregnancy, injuries, skin or nail conditions and treatment preferences.
- Messages, enquiries, feedback, complaints, reviews, communication preferences and marketing consent or opt-out records.
- Photographs or video taken in connection with a treatment or with your permission for marketing.
How we collect it
We usually collect personal information directly from you when you book online, visit or call a salon, communicate with us by email, SMS or social media, complete a consultation, make a payment, buy a voucher, enter a promotion, provide feedback or agree to photographs.
We may also receive information through our booking and voucher provider, Timely, from a parent, guardian, representative or another person making a booking or buying a gift for you, or from a public source such as a public review. If we receive your information from someone else, we will take reasonable steps to make sure you are told about the collection as soon as reasonably practicable, unless an exception under the Privacy Act 2020 applies.
Why we use it
We use personal information for the purpose for which it was collected and for directly related purposes, or where another use is authorised by you or by law.
- To arrange, confirm, change and deliver appointments, salon services and vouchers.
- To assess treatment suitability and provide services safely and appropriately.
- To process deposits, payments, refunds, credits and business or tax records.
- To respond to enquiries, feedback, complaints, guarantees, incidents or disputes.
- To communicate appointment reminders, service information and important changes.
- To send marketing where permitted and record your communication preferences.
- To operate, protect and improve our salons, website, systems and services.
- To meet our legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Your choices
Providing personal information is generally voluntary. However, some details are needed to make or manage a booking, process a payment, or determine whether we can safely provide a treatment. If you do not provide information that is necessary for one of these purposes, we may be unable to complete the transaction or provide the requested service.
You do not have to agree to promotional marketing or to the use of your image for marketing in order to book a service. Please make sure any information you provide about another person is accurate and that they receive this statement or the relevant privacy notice.
Photographs and marketing
We may take photographs or video with your knowledge to document a treatment, record a requested result, or help manage a question or complaint. We will ask for separate permission before using an identifiable image for promotional purposes. You may withdraw permission for future marketing use by contacting us, although we may not be able to retrieve material already lawfully published or shared.
We may send promotional email, SMS or other electronic messages where you have agreed or where New Zealand law otherwise permits us to do so. You can opt out using the unsubscribe facility in a message or by contacting us. Opting out of marketing does not stop service messages that are reasonably necessary to manage an appointment or transaction.
Our website
Our website uses externally hosted Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when loading the typefaces used on the site. Our website host may also process technical requests needed to deliver and protect the site. Third-party booking or voucher pages have their own privacy practices and controls.
We will update this statement if we introduce website analytics, advertising technology or other tools that materially change how personal information is collected or used.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, modification or disclosure. The safeguards we use are reviewed against the sensitivity of the information and the way it is held.
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for a lawful purpose, including providing services, maintaining necessary business and tax records, resolving disputes and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods vary by the type of record. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete it or make it anonymous.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it under the Privacy Act 2020. Contact our privacy officer by phone, by email, or at either salon address listed above. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to this statement
We may update this statement when our practices, providers or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on this page with its last updated date. If a change creates a materially new use of personal information, we will also update the relevant collection notice and seek any authority required by law.
